2007-08 Clippers
The Clippers have one of the most consistent and talented forwards in the league, and Elton Brand comes back next season. They also have Corey Maggette, whose numbers will continue to rise into ’07-08. On the downside, the Clippers will have to deal with Livingston’s injury into the next season – and Sam Casell, although a brilliant point guard, is 37 years old. Livingston’s prescience on the court will be hard to replace. In order to regain the success they had in ’05, the Clippers need a strong point guard and big shots from the backcourt.
Previous Seasons
These aren’t your dad’s Clippers. This group of Los Angeles ballers is taking the Western Conference by surprise. Veterans Elton Brand, Cuttino Mobley and Sam Cassell have brought playoff experience to the Clippers, who also feature a solid group of youngsters like Corey Maggette and Shaun Livingston. Will it be enough to cash the Clippers’ ticket to the NBA Playoffs? The answers come with Los Angeles Clippers tickets.
It would be hard to say the Los Angeles Clippers were anything but bad for their first few years in LA. After stints as the Buffalo Braves (1970-78), and the San Diego Clippers (1978-1984) the Clippers arrived in Los Angels and promptly stumbled to a 31-51 record while changing coaches to no avail. Things got a little better for the 1985-86 season as the Clippers won 32 games but the franchise hit rock bottom the next year by posting an unbelievably bad 12-70 record to finish as the undisputed worst tea in the NBA. Hiring a new coach in Gene Shue for the 1987-88 season didn’t help much. The Clippers won only 17 games under Shue. The high point for fans with Clippers tickets was watching Michael Cage win the rebounding title. The Clippers promptly traded Cage to Seattle, selected Danny Manning in the 1998 NBA Draft, and won a meager 21 games in 1988-89. Trying desperately to improve, Los Angeles selected Danny Ferry of Duke in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft. Ferry however had other plans, and sailed off to Italy. GM Elgin Baylor swapped draft picks for players and obtained Ron Harper which would pay off down the line.
